Veltoor-Gale-Tornado Grid Connected Solar Energy Project is the state-of-the-art solar project delivering prominent sustainable benefits to local as well global environment. The project activity is the first solar project in CLP India’s renewable portfolio.
Total capacity of this bundled project is 170 MW. The project activity has been implemented in 3 phases – the first phase i.e. Veltoor with capacity of 100 MW, the second phase i.e. Gale with capacity of 50 MW and third phase i.e. Tornado with capacity of 20 MW. The project is designed to generate 316,040 MWh every year, which is equivalent to powering more than 63,000 Indian households. The project activity has designed to avoid more than 289,503 tones CO2e per year and saves more than 1,106 million liters of water per year compared to a typical coal power plant, which is currently dominating Indian electricity sector.
In addition to that CLP has undertaken numerous community development project focused on improving health and education, and creating sustainable community around the project sites.
